More about J.J. Van Es

I started telling stories as a barefoot kid in the backwoods of the Midwest, chasing snakes, evil knights, and Darth Vader. I'm proudly American born, though my Dutch father sailed to the U.S. many winters ago, making the Kingdom of the Netherlands my second home. Those roots weave through everything I write. From the foothills of the Ozarks to the echoing halls of European castles, I've created complex characters living in different times and on other worlds. I write to return the gift God gave me--an imagination that hungers for adventure and truth, where hope has a spine. I married my knight in shining armor, and together we're raising four little dragons to be warriors in God's kingdom. Their wonder keeps my pen honest and my heart brave.​
